Each year I design and build for one or two climate and conservation groups with a real cause and a public face that does not match it yet. The work is free. The scope is written down, capped and finished.

Free does not mean open-ended. Everything below goes into a one-page scope before any work starts, the same as a paid project.
Who it is for
emerging groups
Climate and conservation
Groups with a real cause and a visual presence that has not caught up with it: a website nobody updates, a campaign that looks like everyone else’s, a logo from a free generator. Not the large NGOs yet. The gap between what you do and how you look is where design changes the most.

What is included
one project
4 to 8 weeks
One clearly bounded piece: a campaign or a landing page, designed and built by the same person who would do it for a paying client. When it is live, it is finished. Ongoing support is not part of it, and that is written down too.

Not exposure. Three concrete things, agreed in the scope, so both sides know what the project is worth.
The right to publish the project as a case study
A short testimonial once it is live
An introduction to one larger group in your field
Access to the before state, so the change can be shown
The case study shows the before, the after and the reasoning.
I take on at most two pro bono projects at a time, so each one gets the same attention as paid work. When both places are taken, I say so and tell you when the next one opens.

A pro bono project runs exactly like a paid one: a call, a written scope, the design before the build, and a clear end.

A 15 minute call
free
You tell me what the group does and what the piece has to achieve. I tell you whether it fits, what I would build and whether a place is open. If a template or somebody else is the better fit, I will say so.

A written scope
2 working days
One page: what gets built, when it is done, what is not included, and what you give in return. Nothing starts until both sides have signed it.
03
Design, then build
4 to 8 weeks
You see the design before anything gets built, and you get one round of changes on it. Then I build it, and you get a link you can open whenever you want.
04
Handover and case study
plus 30 days
It goes live, you get the files, and anything broken in the first 30 days I fix. Then I write up the before, the after and the decisions as a case study.
